DECOY & NEOSOE'S Final Contribution to REDEFINE!!!

Hey, sorry for taking so long on the update. Well……..unfortunately our Physical Locations is officially closed…but no need to weep, and yes I agree we were the coolest people downtown but we didn’t completely disappear. We’re now working with Inporgress Magazine to bring you some super unique Indie Hip Hop/Urban Art events that will sure help get our little local scene on the map. Dare I say…we somewhat laid the foundation for everyday urban Art venues, well now we’re going to bring you something else which I will keep under wraps for now. With the help of Godamus Rhyme, Madd Illz, Tobar, Socky Chop, and a bunch of other cool people we want to help boost the overall impact our town has on the Culture. Stay tuned for more news on that.

As promised, even though I’m sure you’ve seen these amazing pieces by now…here’s some work that was up at the “Sorry You Missed Us Show” by both DECOY and NEOSOE, and remember that you can pick one up at www.RedefineBoutique.com

DECOY'S:

NEOSOE:

That was a nice portion of the greatness they contributed. If you're interested in any of the pieces just check www.RedefineBoutique.com to see of any are still available...but do so fast because I'm rotating the art/artists in about 2 weeks.

Our 1 Year Anniversary Recap: SOCKY CHOP Edition

well, it's been forever again and I said I would update you on the shop's revamping. Truth is we revamped for the 1 year Anniversary which went really good, all the art was great and got some pretty decent recognition. Over the time the art stood up I believe Socky Chop sold the most pieces at about 7 plus 1 commission gained from the recognition of the showing. Actually I was really inspired by his work as was our curator Mr. Tobar. We're thinking about moving the shop to the next level and I believe Socky Chop may jump on board with us....uh oh, Imagine what Tobar, Myself, and Socky Chop can do with our space. Only time will tell but I bet you if it happens it'll be a matter of time before we have the most creative and true urban art spot in Orlando. Back to the actual show though, we def have to shout out DECOY & NEOSOE as well. Both came with amazing art and great wall murals. DECOY came with a horror theme that shocked everyone, and was probably the main photo op wall. I'm going to add his work to the blog in a week or so, video and all. figured it's cooler and the effect of greatness last longer by stretching out the night in multiple blog post. After that I promise to also post the pictures of NEOSOE's wall and art which really popped. I personally think NEOSOE is one of the most complete Graffiti writers in Orlando, maybe he doesn't get the Gallery & Mainstream recognition because he came up as a bomber rather than a piecer. From an outside perspective I see that it's hard for bombers to get into design using sharpness and cleanliness, hopefully NEOSOE proved he can shift through worlds and styles though with this past show. I truly believe he can do both bombing and piecing flawlessly. Anyway, back to SOCKY CHOP for now, here's part of what you missed:

WALL MURAL BY SOCKY CHOP

BILL MURRAY AS A ZOMBIE BY SOCKY CHOP

GWEN STEFANI AS A PIN-UP STYLE ZOMBIE BY SOCKY CHOP

MADONNA LITA BY SOCKY CHOP

GIRL & PIRANHA BY SOCKY CHOP

NAOMI WATTS AS A ZOMBIE BY SOCKY CHOP

GIRL & BONES BY SOCKY CHOP

FROG & FRIENDS BY SOCKY CHOP

GIRL & FACE BY SOCKY CHOP

FROG & TOAD SKATEBOARD BY SOCKY CHOP

So yeah, he amazed all of us. His hidden Skeleton women are always a fan favorite and of course was expected but what had everyone talking was his Celebrities as Zombies. Everyone was taking pictures and asking question, it was a great night overall. If you're interested in purchasing one of his pieces that may not have been bought yet you can check the pricing and status at WWW.REDEFINEBOUTIQUE.COM

Well, I'll be back soon to update both DECOY's & NEOSOE's contributions to the show as well as DIVINCI (of Solillaquists Of Sound) & BEEF WELLINGTON's performance. I'll also let you know where we're going with the shop. As of right now the shop is closed for business reasons but when we decide to get back on pace you'll be seeing new faces and new products. Stay tuned....

Revamping The Shop

This is one of those random post that lets you know we're still alive. In fact we're in the middle of changing some stuff in the store including part of the layout & wall murals. It's been a mess but we're finally almost done and once we wrap it up we'll start letting people in again. Speaking of letting you guys back in, our 1 Year Anniversary is coming up which is why we're taking plenty of time to clean up house, rearrange, and adding some elements which will make some areas of the shop pop a little more. We'll let you know about the 1 Year Anniversary Party once the details are ironed out. For sure we'll have live music, an art installation show, and some new apparel. I can't say who will be taking part as of yet but it's going to be fun though, I can tell you that!!!

Oh, those pictures are a glimpse of the new look. We'll post completed pictures within the next couple of weeks so you know what to expect.

Till then: myspace.com/redefineboutique

A Special Saturday Night Cypher: ART OF BATTLE

Here's something I'm excited about. I've been in a slump lately with certain issues the store was going through including a broken AC. With the heat wave in the shop plus family issues I had to close the store for a week. It was literally about 85 degrees in the shop during the Saturday Night Cypher with around 30 people inside. Now 85 degrees plus body heat just equaled a mad hot, kinda smelly box...haha. Anyway, now the AC is fixed, luckily it was just a fuse (Thanks to Lemus for going to the Landlord and having that fixed.) and our shop is cool again. OK, what I'm excited about again is called ART OF BATTLE which is presented by Saturday Night Cypher.

Art of Battle is actually 8 emcees and 8 artists. 2 battles, 1 from each winning a prize of

Emcee Prize:

- $100 in Cash
- Ethnycity Apparel
- Basix Graff Devil Shirt
- 2 Issues of Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazines
- Interview by Madd Illz hosted here and the Saturday Night Cypher Myspace.
- A Myspace Layout by Redefine

Artist Prize:

- $100 in Cash
- Ethnycity Apparel
- 4 Pack of Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazines
- Wildstyle Technicians Art Mini Art Supply Bag
- Mini Blank Blackbook by Pro-Art
- Interview by Me hosted here and the Saturday Night Cypher Myspace.

I'm not going to say who the Artists are right now be we have some really good artists who already reserved a spot. These are Artists that when I first saw their work I was just like "Wow, that person's crazy." As far as the Emcees, when Madd Illz is ready to release the names I'll also update you guys on that....But if you're familiar with Madd Illz or Grind Time Battles then I'm sure you know that the Emcees who run in that circle are super talented and very funny.

If you're interested in participating, there's a $15 entry fee for both Artists and Emcees, and you can contact us at Myspace.com/RedefineBoutique or Myspace.com/SaturdayNightCypher

If you're more comfortable with email, email us at redefine@mail2art.com

Peace and Thanks Again

New Art Packages in our eBay store

What's up, i promised to update more often so I wanna let you guys know that we have 3 more exclusives in our eBay store. If you been to the gallery recently then I'm sure these 3 pieces look familiar.

The first one is a package with Mr. Tobar's Original Obama Piece. Barack Obama standing behind and trying to shine through a confused and failing time in America. Hopefully he can surpass all the garbage traditional politics if he wins and start his own trend of maybe half decent politics. Mr. Tobar is one of the few young cats coming up that actually puts in work, watch out for him in the future, he's def going to be one of Orlando's top names in art. Okay, back to the package...haha. The piece also comes with a new shirt we just got in the shop, "OBAMA IS MY HOMIE." The piece is one of a kind and the Homie shirts are limited, so pick this up before the next person does and you lose your chance. The actual piece is def going to be a collectors piece.

The 2nd is a very cool piece by the super talented Palin Perez. The piece is pretty big (30 inches x 30 inches) and screams out "Supplication of the sick who have renounced all hope of life." This one is a great deal, his pieces have been in Galleries around the world and go well over $800, actually his last piece of Malcolm X was in Orlando's City Arts Factory for $1,100 i believe. So pretty much this one is a steal at $225, and includes a shirt I collaborated with him on. Yes, it's that crazy "No More Freedom Please" shirt that's limited edition. In addition, it also comes with 2 issues of Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine...need I say more. This is probably going to be the best package deal we ever offer when you consider what you get for the money.

The last is very affordable and comes with 2 shirts. It's a framed print of "Conquering Our Enemies" by German Lemus. The Original was done for Immortal Technique, the canvas having Fidel Castro talking to Che Guevara while Immortal Technique quietly waited for word. Though the Original Canvas is strictly for Technique, German Lemus did release limited edition prints. This Package also includes the "No More Freedom Please" shirt and "Patriotic Propaganda" shirt. This is a must have for the supporters of the Revolutionary Lifestyle, especially for the price.

Our Newness & What's Going On

What's up? I decided to take it easy on the website and utilize blogspot. This will make updates a million times easier and allow me to concentrate on you guys along with orders. So with that said expect a lot more updates from Redefine, meaning it'll be more convenient for you to know what's going on in the shop as far as events and even allow you to order shirts and art directly from here. Now for those of you who have no idea who I am or what we at Redefine do, well....read the about me on the side, haha. We're a shop in Orlando set up like an Urban Art Gallery with Apparel to somewhat coincide with the theme. On Saturday's we do this Hip Hop event/chill spot called Saturday Night Cypher which is hosted by battle emcee Madd Illz with DJ Stranger Spinning. OK, now you know what we're about so lets get to the good stuff. I'm adding these Men's shirts being that we have somewhat a revolutionary vibe in the shop right now. That in itself was inspired by the Man himself, Immortal Technique who kindly paid us a visit along with his crew Rebel Army (Poison Pen, Demics, DJ GI JOE, J.Arch, and Southpaw.) Anyway, here's a couple of pictures from that experience and a couple of shirts to help make the mood.

Peace

The first shirt I'm going to add is a a design B-Side's Palin Perez and I collabed on. It's a play on what all the restrictions and laws like the Patriot Act actually do to us, just creating more bondage and actually limiting our freedoms in order to have "freedom." It boldly says "No More Freedom Please" while the man is already stripped and beaten of whatever rights he's had. The backdrop repeats "Think" over and over again with a 3rd message subliminally added.

The 2nd is a shirt design I Conceptualized around the time of 4th of July, for our brand Ethnycity. Took me a few days but came up with this, "Patriotic Propaganda Promotes Cultural Stereotypes, It's Okay To Kill The Innocence As Long As A Handful Of Degenerates Are The Overview." It's pretty much a representation of our worlds double standard. Many Americans believe in stereotypes, especially those that apply to anywhere our country feels need for a war. Lets just say the little boy with the sign is actually celebrating the "Independence" the U.S. "gave" to them but even still our soldiers are taught not to trust them. They may feel he's mocking us by holding the Uncle Sam Sign and that maybe instead of Fireworks like our children celebrate with...it's actually dynamite. So, they take aim at his head even though he's just celebrating his "new found independence." Imagine if our kids were treated like that during the 4th of July....
